Old-fashioned treatment using lime, soft soap, linseed oil

Wash the floor with water and allow it to dry for 24 hours. Sandpaper following the direction of the grain. Vacuum clean.

Lime the floor using an even application of limewash. Allow to dry for 12 hours. Sandpaper following the direction of the grain. Vacuum clean.

Wipe the floor with 10% soft soap water. Do not rinse off.

When the floor is dry, apply the linseed oil thinly with a paintbrush. Using a piece of cloth, distribute the wet linseed oil thinly and evenly. It is important to avoid any excess of oil on the surface. Allow a few days for it to dry. (If a colour tone is desired on the floor, add linseed oil paint to the oil).

Preparation of the limewash

Mix the lime dough and water (1:10 parts). Stir carefully. Cover the surface with plastic or a tightly closed lid. Allow to stand for 12-15 hours.

Pour off the clear lime water and replace it with an equal amount of fresh water. Allow it to stand for 12-15 hours overnight.

After re-stirring, the limewash is now ready for use.
